I’m really sorry you had to experience that; sudden loss always hits the hardest. And it really stays with you, so I hope you’re healing well

I’m mid-thirties and I’ve already lost too many people for someone my age. And it’s not even drugs or anything like that (though a few were), but just unfortunate circumstances. It’s one thing to have grandparents die, but friends in your cohort just hurts differently. And I’ve started to lose count if I don’t sit and think/tally them up; which seems kinda messed up.

I mean, I should be going to more weddings and baby showers than funerals, at my age. Hell, I just lost my first two dogs and an Uncle in his early 50’s, over the past 6 months… and it almost starts to feel like that’s normal? Like, “well fuck, here we go again”

I like to think that it’s the unfortunate/inevitable consequence of having so much love in your life. It hurts like hell, but I would never take back the time I had with them. “The good die young” and all that, so maybe I’ve just been fortunate enough to know people who are too good, to stay too long (though I’m not sure what that says about myself lol). A minor condolence but it does help me cope

Be well friend and also: May the Force be with you, Sami

  • None of that, “I’ll do it in a few minutes, I won’t forget” nonsense. I absolutely will forget. I can set an alarm for 10 minutes, but then I’m doing something else already and I’ll silence it, thinking “oh yeah, I almost forgot! I’ll do that just as soon as I’m done doing…”

Nope. Bring groceries inside. Go pee. Unload groceries. Return bags to car. If I follow those steps, I’ll remember lol
