Is there a tool to automatically check partitions for excessive log files, caches or other junk? The root partition of a Linux box I have is 60 GiB and almost full, and XFCE will fail to start when there’s no space. I would use WinDirStat on Windows but the Linux alternatives can’t do the job properly because they scan by file tree and some subdirectories of / are on other partitions because of symlinks… I guess I could boot a live USB and mount my ext4 root partition but not the NTFS storage one but I’d rather avoid that.

There are some on Friendlica and Pixelfed but otherwise, you need to get outside the Fediverse to spot them.

I sure hope so. Half of the Fediverse uses them. We don’t want people thinking “no way I’m clicking sh.itjust.works”

We’re really consuming them at an alarming rate. Soon, the only affordable ones will have either 20+ characters, a sus TLD, or just be a nonsensical string nobody can pronounce.

I guess the dumb one just shows a number, the smart one will also tell you “it’s not bones or muscles but fat, dumbass” and tell a data broker so the health insurance company can update your plan accordingly

My oven is so old I came across an identical one in an e-waste pile behind a store. I stole the timer knob and mechanism so I don’t need to keep using the broken one (manual only) anymore.
